Mountain View Area Tourism


Tourists flock to Mountain View year round for many reasons. One of the first and most obvious of those is the secluded location of our little town. Mountain View is nestled into the hills and valleys of the beautiful Ozark Mountains. Touched by the White River and several year-round creeks, streams, and springs, the area around Mountain View is truly majestic. If you are an outdoors lover and want to get out and walk mountain trails, ride horseback through these misty hills, or just sit back and enjoy the breathtaking views, Mountain View is the place for you. Whether you're looking for something to do inside or outside; with other folks or all by yourself; Mountain View and the surrounding area has just what you're looking for. When you get to Mountain View, you'll want to stay for a day or two so check out the local services.

If you're looking for entertainment, Mountain View has a variety of music and comedy shows, plus craft displays and art exhibits to keep you busy. Music shows every weekend throughout the summer together with music on the square will keep your foot tappin' and a smile on your face.

Don't forget to stop into the area's arts & crafts shops, fine art galleries, and antique stores. Some of the most talented artists reside in the Mountain View area so don't miss their work.


The Stone County Recreation Complex has a public swimming pool, tennis courts, ball fields, picnic area and playground. The Municipal City Park (located north of the the Court Square and south of the Ozark Folk Center) has a beautiful picnic area with tables, grills and water. Additionally, there is a wonderful amphitheater adjacent to the park. It is a great location for weddings, concerts, or just sitting and meditating. Contact the City of Mountain View, (870) 269-3804, for more information on the amphitheater. There is a hiking trail from downtown thru the amphitheater to the Ozark Folk Center. The Stone County Fairgrounds is located north of City Park. 

There are also numerous outdoor recreation areas and facilities for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, go-carting, and all around site seeing. You may want to browse the area business directory for information on the merchants associated with these services.
